Local Media

Cayman Free Press

Established in 1965, Cayman Free Press, is only one of a handful of companies that saw the potential of starting up a business in the 1960s, shortly after Jamaica declared her independence from the United Kingdom, while the Cayman Islands chose to stay with the Mother Country.

While the newspapers of 40-45 years ago could have been considered a public service, readers and advertisers have realised throughout the years that Cayman Free Press is a vital part of the country, being the watchdog of government when necessary through their three newspapers, bolstering the financial, tourism and local industries with their publications and offering first-rate, professional commercial job printing through Precision Print.

Cayman Net News

Cayman Net News was founded by veteran publisher and editor, Desmond Seales and began publishing in 1999 as a pioneering online news provider. Its phenomenal growth and early recognition as a leading authority on news from the Cayman Islands community, soon led to the establishment of a weekly print edition in tabloid format in March 2000, and a twice-weekly publication only six months later. It went daily in 2003, publishing a wide variety of special features and supplements. For a while in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, it was the sole, uninterrupted source for authoritative and reliable news from the Cayman Islands.

In 2008, the death of Mr. Seales, dealt a severe blow to the newspaper’s operations and with retrenchment at its operations, Cayman Net News continued publication, but as a weekly tabloid. Today, the company is re-establishing itself and reclaiming its proud heritage as a hard-hitting, quality publication that provides readers in the Cayman Islands and beyond with comprehensive local and international coverage, insightful and analytical commentary and a wide range of sports, entertainment and lifestyle features.
